  1. Bugger .. Sad for all of the racers and Fox that have worked towards this event. I had to cancel with so many racers contracting Covid over the past week and others still recovering. At least we have everything in place for the event. . Now all we have to do is find a weekend that works for most. Regards, Kim
  2. You and Clint need to be here Charles.. It will be a great weekend. It's vary user friendly track. .A couple of hours and you're on pace.
  3. Great work Fox.. thanks for organising. I just got the proofs for theTrophies.. To get you name on the Geoghegan Trophy points from your best 3 race results will be added up. Looking forward to a great weekend. .
  4. Hi Everybody, just posting to let you know ( short of me getting covid in the next two weeks) this event is going ahead. Trophies look great and the track has had a very favourible response from all that have raced on it. With concerns re the current Covid pandemic some teams have contacted me and are struggling to achieve a 3 man team but still want to attend. In light of this I am announcing this race can be a 2 or 3 person teams event. The race format for teams events will be 7 x 45 minute brackets. with driver changes every 15 minutes. Two man teams the driver changes will be A,B,A,B etc 3 man teams will be A,B,C, A,B,C, etc etc The track computer will be set for a power off driver change every 15 minutes so driver/ marshall change can happen in an orderly manner and not distanvantage any teams or continuity of marshalling duties. . At your earliest convenience please let me or Fox know what events you can attend, your team name, and the drivers in your team. Here is the art proofs for this events trophies. Regards, Kim Please note: In the interest of team members being Covid safe this will be a closed event from the general public. Only race entrants and the organiser will be allowed in the Slot car track area.
  5. Hi Fox, please enter for the two teams events: Seagulls Racers - Charles, Alan and Shaun Gold Coast Eagles - Bruce, Ash and Rusty Chipeaters - Team members to be advised
  6. Hi everyone... This event is on hold until we have a clear idea whats going on with Covid lockdown and Queensland border control. I'll get Fox to upfrade the 1st post. Regards, Kim
  7. Hi everyone, who knows if this event will go ahead with the unpredictibility of Covid lockdowns and travel restrictions.. all we can do is watch and wait.. On a good note I've got the track up and running and have been suprised just how well some cars handle the track and others, not so. As you know scale racing is predominately run on flat tracks so incorporating a banked turn was always a bit of an unknown.. Most scale cars handle the track very well.. Probably my favourite driving experience in the scale cars so far is the Slotworx Porsche.. It's lively, handles the bank well and gets into a nice controlled drift exiting the big 180 degree flat turn in front of the drivers panel. GT3's, Hstorics, GroupC (lexan) Mini Z all work extremely well. Ive tried a few Retro's and they also are a fun drive, What does'nt work well is the FLM and LMP cars.. Good everywhere on the track but when they hit the bank a combination of long wheekbase and a lot of rear end weight causes drama. The FLM with the large rim size and "rubber band tyre" chews out the right side tyre very quickly, it then delaminates from the rim and starts damaging the track. For some reason the LMP not a problem re tyre or rim but the higher than normal cornering force of the banked turn combined with long wheelbase and heavy longcan motor has the motor box compressing so much the chassis bottoms out and gets very sideways. Based on my experiance with these cars on the track I am going to replace the FLM class with Gen 1 Slotworx Porsche Cars for this event to 2021 specs. . Sorry for the change.. I will get Fox to re configure the opening race information.
  8. Accommodation: Well, there is luxury, cheap, and really cheap. The 1st week of October has holiday loading so the Luxo places like twin towns is expensive.. but, less than a 100 meters away there is a pub a bit like the Blue Gum.. before it was renovated. All rooms have en suite's and the price.. well $77 per room single but if you share only $88 per night ( yep.. thats $44 each) Food is good, beach across the road, about 10 minutes drive to the track.. Dont go to the website.. it will direct you to another entirely different hotel in another state? Phone 0755991909
  9. I've had a few enquiry's regards bodies.. here's an interesting list Fox put me onto. Wow.. I did'nt know so many bodies qualified. https://www.tsrfcars.com/scrra_canam_legal_bodies_web.htm
  10. Agree.. be great to see you Peter.. I'm pretty excited about introducing Retro to this end of the country. Had a lot of interest already. Me, Fox and Garry tried to get Retro happening a few years ago but after two trips to the Browns Plains track and finding the doors shut we sort of gave up.
  11. Thanks for entering Garry.. geez.. now I am going to have to build one of those Aussie Retro chassis we got how many years ago?
  12. Hi everyone, Exciting times.. I did'nt think there was another slot car track in me but when the very last track commercial track I ever built came up on Gumtree I had to save it. A two year search for premises finally found the community minded Seagulls Club only a 10 minutes my place at Tweed Heads. Luckily for me it's in NSW so no crossing the border every day ! .. I'm hoping to have it open in the next couple of weeks. Here's a few pic's... I'll update shortly.
  13. Cam rang me.. wants to enter theBullring Team of Ben, Pagey and the Camster. Thanks guys .. should be fun.. !
  14. Awesome Wayne. .I'll change the sheets in your room at the the Axxman house.
  15. It's a sad day indeed guys.. I was really hoping to catch up with all my old ( in the literal sense ) mates and have one last bash at Hornsby. I sincerely thank James for soldiering on even with the tougher times covid has created. Running a slot car centre in good times is hard enough so how James kept the doors open is true testament to looking after his racers. James said to me once he felt he was not the owner.. just the custodian of a piece of history that needed looking after. To everyone, we will re-group, we will race again, but nothing will ever replace the banter and as Fox says the bullshit good times we had at Hornsby. Axman
  16. Hi Mark, I'll be looking for a team mate in the Porsche cUp car race. Noel is driving with Stephen.
  17. Thanks for posting Pagey.. some really good memories there. There's always been a bit of magic going to Hornsby.. It's a collective thing.. the track, the people, and of course the pub.
  18. Where can I get some of these plaig bearings.. sound impressive.
  19. Hi Wayne, Noel, Simon and I will be competing in round 2.. is it an individual or teams event.
  20. Hi Fox, please enter Chip Eaters Racing Team ( CERT) for the event. Members are Simon, Kim and Noel. We will also compete in the Slotworx event Wayne has organised for the Saturday night.
  21. Another great Hornsby weekend.. thanks Fox for organising and running such a smooth well informed event. As usual it was great to catch up with old mates.. it's been a long time with Covid knocking out most of last years races. This year Noel, Simon and I teamed up (NSK) and got lucky with a few podiums between us. For me personally the race I enjoyed most was the FLM event with the top three placings only separated by 1 lap! Our team name however should have DimSim instead of KimSim.. (Kim & Simon) After a disasterous qualifying run I realised I had put on the wrong tyres so under green at race start we had to do a tyre change. 80 minutes later we narrowly won the B main with 873 laps just nosing out the two Bullring teams. A tense wait while the A main was being run became pretty exciting when I realised we almost had the same laps going into the last bracket as the A main leading teams. Fat racing looked to have it by 2 laps but then Fox hit the floor and for a moment Wayne could'nt make the track call buzzer work. Linfox then moved to the lead and finished on the same 873 laps we had.. The bell lap time was the decider.. Linfox made it by 4 seconds for 1st, my DimSim team for 2nd and Fat racing only a lap further back for 3rd. A grerat race! In GT3 a welcome change to the 2021 rules allowed the race organiser to nominate motor choice. The nominated 30k SRP with a 13T pinion and worked really well on the Hornsby track. The extra oomph had no one complaining about getting left behind on the straights.. instead driver technique and chassis set up came into play and really showed which drivers were doing it right. Qualifying and race times were barely a 1/2 of a tenth of a second quicker than last year. and interestingly 5 different chassis made it to the front. In Qualifying Stoo / De Watcher, Noel / Plafit post chassis, Cody /Johnson chassis. and Fox with a Jacques. In the main race Cody ran away with the Johnson, Brooksy came thru the field to 2nd with a Fola and Fox running the cheapest car in the field picked up 3rd running the Brisbane Jacques chassis. Great to see local product up there with the best Europe has to offer. I never got on the boil in GT3 so I wont bore you with the details. The Slotworx Porsche Cup event worked really well with a full field of 8 teams.. 6 solid hours of racing with all teams on the track at the same time really kept interest up. For this event Bullring and Oz slugged it out with both teams virtually taking it in turns to lead the event. Bullring top lap scored on purple with a whopping 444 laps only to lose the lead on black with mechanical issues. Team Oz then took over the lead top scoring on Black but Bullring regained the lead coming off the slow lanes. Fat racing got up to 2nd outright for 3 brackets but repeated body damage kept the laps down when needed. Going into the last bracket Bullring looked to be a comfortable winner but a crash in the closing minutes of the race saw the back end of the car collapse and not able to drive round the track much less paas the clearance check at the end. Oz moved up into first and must have thought they got lucky but an earlier crash bent the front end so they also failed the finish line clearance test. This elevated Fat racing to 1st, my team NSK racing to 2nd and Linfox back on the podium again to 3rd. A great days racing with plenty of action.. A big thanks to James for keeping the doors open, Fox for organising the years premier event and everyone for coming.. hope the track survives so we can do it all again one day..
