With new builds underway just make sure that you are familiar with the new rules in regards to the scrutineers check dot marks on sides for cut lines . They have to be retained. Check the rules to make sure your legal as bodies without won’t pass .Looking forward to seeing the new cars .

After a huge weekend and a recharge it’s time to say a few big thanks  . Really appreciate all the time in the planning of the event from both Brooksy and Ben. Dealing with me is not always easy but y

Great time.   Have not felt so exhausted after a weekend away since my 1st serious girlfriend.   Awesome racing, awesome mates, awesome time.   Love yous all.

Wow thanks for the support everyone. We have 16 teams and at this stage 31 drivers. I hate to close off the event entries but I feel with the numbers that have nominated, to get the race program and t

OK I have a question regarding V8 Rules as follows.

The Porsche cup Rules state that: -

c)    Only the supplied body mount plates can be used. Plafit or custom made mounts are NOT acceptable. A full-length piece of body mounting foam must be used minimum 55mm long.

The V8 Rules state that: -

C) Only the supplied body mount plates may be used.

So the rules differ in that there is no mention of the requirement for a "full-length piece of body mounting foam must be used minimum 55mm long".

My question: -

Given that that there is no mention of a min length of foam is this set-up legal for V8s (I have seen it used but just want a ruling).

Thanks

I really love your eye for details and attention to the rules Mr Fox . I wish others would take the time to actually read the rules and take on board what’s required. The rule set for Slotworx that Cam has written are very clear and precise. Great so we have parity as designed by him . I hope everyone takes the time to read the rules as closely as Mark does . National rules guys and if it is written in the rules it will be enforced when scrutineers asses the cars . It’s not problem to ask questions if you are unsure , I’m all for for it . But please read the rules as it’s very important so you won’t be disappointed on race day . The rules are on this forum for the classes for Bathurst in July and the FLM are on Ace hobbies sight . Body rules are going to be closely looked at for cut lines , weights , wing heights , light buckets etc . It’s all in the rules .

Ta Benno.

That's what I figured.

Just thought I would check as  I heard some differing opinions.

I have another question regarding the body.

The rules under section "Body" state: -

- mine weighs 19 grams currently and yet the rules under "Weight and Dimensions" say: -

How do I get my body to weigh the legal min if I can't add weight to it or the mounting plates - is section "f" above incorrectly drafted?

Thanks

Hey Foxy,

A correctly painted and detailed body is 23 grams all mounted up, perhaps you could try heavier/longer body screws ?  :P

To be fair though, we have been allowed in the past to add additional weight required to bring the bodies up to minimum weight. But this must be done as per guidelines for all other weighting ie: not be visible from underneath.

This trend will continue for this event

Cheers

Thanks again Benno.

So I just contravene the regs as per the accepted practice in this instance 😑.

OK I am now ready to finish my V8 😀

Ha yes !! The only rule with an exception

Fox, I've revised the rules and removed the offending line regarding weighting the body.

I don't consider this to be a change as logic has prevailed in the past and it's been rightfully ignored.

Also if anyone wants to add weight to their body I'm sure the rest of us won't complain.

Hi Pagey,  I sadly will have to drop off the racing list as I have a re-occurring problem with a pinched nerve in my neck,,,really painful stuff !!!!,,,and enduro racing is probably the worst thing I could attempt at this time. The wife and I are doing a USA road trip in mid August, and I  want to try and settle it down by then..  Not sure what Mark is doing as to the team racing,,,,he was going to make some calls I think.........anyway,,,,good luck to all and to great racing as you all do so well...

cheers Darryl T

Great weekend Glenn.. your club is the standout of Australia slot car clubs.. you give everyone what they want in terms of organisation, support and racing classes that are on the National calendar.  Your enthusiasm has a knock on effect that that brings everyone together for your weekly club racing and special evens like this one. Nick and I knew coming to the Bullrings hallowed grounds was going to be a challenge because you guys have got so good over the past 12 months and  I feel could be competitive anywhere. Nick felt we could have done better but I'm actually pretty happy we were only a lap or two away from a podium in GT3 and FLM. Great catching up with everyone and a big thanks to Brooksie, Benno, Jim, your family and all that helped make it a great event. Surprisingly for me and Fox the V8 dash was probably the highlight of the weekend... thats the best training ground I've seen for drivers to learn the importance of going hard and staying on...
